Azkals to Play Away and Away Semifinal Matches

As the newly popular Philippine Football Team prepare for the Suzuki Cup semis, they are facing a more difficult challenge. Instead of the home and away format , the Azkals will have to face the formidable Indonesian team in their home front. According to a press statement by the Suzuki Cup organizers the Philippines cannot host a game due to lack of suitable venue.

The Phillipine Football Team has blamed former PFF president Mari Martinez
for the decision, saying it is he who has written to the organizers that the Philippines cannot host the event.

According to the team coach, Briton Simon McMenemy“It’s anti-climactic after what has happened,”referring to the Philipines miraculous entry into the Suzuki Cup Semifinals. The Philippine Football Team was known as a minnow in ASEAN football.

Team manager Dan Palami also denied claims by Mari Martinez that the team's victory is due to his three year development program. Palami is quoted saying "we have not received one centavo of support from the PFF under Mr. Mari Martinez".

“While our triumphs on the football field and the glory we’ve attained is something we are sharing with every Filipino and football fan out there, taking credit for matters one did not do is something we do not condone,”
said a statement from the Phillipine Team.
